How to Leverage Keystone Habits to Improve Your Life to Your Next Level Living

If you’ve been with us here at My Blooming Biz for a while you know how much we continuously stress the importance of improving our lives with the formation of good, positive habits. Why? Because habits are at the center of who we are. They are an integral part of all that we say, do, and allow in our lives, and will be the defining factor in whether we succeed or fail at anything. Keystone habits can further our habit formation agenda by showing up our bad habits, stealthily requiring changes in those areas, and creating a ripple effect of good, positive changes in our lives.

What are Keystone Habits?

Keystone is a term used widely to define the significance of one piece or component in a system of parts. Habits are things we continuously do, even without any conscious thought to doing them. Thus Keystone Habits are those central habits that dictate the functionality of all other habits. In habit development, the keystone habit symbolizes the importance of one single habit that brings together multiple other habits. The keystone habit acts as a center stone, providing support for the development of the other habits that are surrounding it.

One solid example of keystone habit is expense journaling. When you keep an expense journal, you track every single penny you spend on a daily basis, the time you spend it, what you spend it on, and why you spend it. When expense journaling becomes a habit, it acts as a keystone in the identification of unnecessary expenditures, and the ability to see a vast overview of spending patterns and thus able to do something about it. In turn, this leads to better financial goal setting, an adjustment of expenses, and other positive financial habits.

Habits are not formed overnight! So the deliberate act of developing keystone habits will ultimately command better habits by subtly disrupting established habits, resulting in positive changes to our lifestyles.

How to Form Keystone Habits

Like any other habit, forming keystone habits takes time, discipline, consistency, and patience. It takes an identification of the habit itself, and a plan to form the habit – over time. No habit will be easy to form! Habit formation takes work, so you have to be prepared to dig your heels in, and do the work required with consistency and tenacity.

According to a research study by Phillipa Lally – a postdoctoral fellow on Economic and Social Research Council at the University of London, habit formation takes, on average, 66 days before the behavior becomes automatic. The study examined 96 people over the course of 12 weeks to determine just how long it took for a behavior to solidify as an unconscious and repetitive routine in the mind. With that in mind, and considering that habit formation is going to take an exhaustive amount of work, why not focus on keystone habits? Good keystone habits! These habits will be at the core foundation of a group of other positive habits in your life and will help in developing more good habits while in the process eliminating any bad habits.

How to Leverage Keystone Habits to Improve Your Life

Step 1. Create a Checklist of Your Goals & Habits Needed To Achieve Those Goals

The first step in leveraging keystone habits is to create a checklist of the habits you need to have in order to accomplish your goals. On a clean sheet of printing paper – laid out horizontally (landscape), make two vertical lines that will divide the page in 3 equal parts. Next, make a horizontal line close to the top of page. On the left, write the heading GOALS, in the mid section write the heading NEEDED TO ACHIEVE GOALS, and on the right ‘MUST HAVE’ HABITS. Input your first goal under GOALS. Then, list all the things you need in order to achieve that goal under NEEDED TO ACHIEVE GOALS. Next, list the habits you must have in order to achieve that goal under ‘MUST HAVE’ HABITS. Repeat this process for all the other goals you have.

Our signature Goal Book has a section for this exercise in it, purchase your copy if you haven’t already done so.

Step 2. Identify Your Keystone Habits

The second step in leveraging keystone habits is to identify the keystone habits from your list of ‘Must Have’ habits. To do this, look at what you’ve listed under ‘MUST HAVE’ HABITS and identify the one habit that is central to all the other habits. That habit, that once you get a hold of, will command the other habits to get in formation. That is your Keystone Habit! Focus on getting that habit on par and improve your chance of reaching that goal. Repeat this process for all the goals you have listed.

Step 3. Put Those Keystone Habits Into Action

Put those keystone habits you have identified in Step 2 into action, and work consistently at developing them into habits – your new good habits. Things like weight loss, elimination of debt, increase in income begin with keystone habits. If you want to lose more weight, form the keystone habit of food journaling. If you want to eliminate debt, form the keystone habit of expense journaling. If you want to increase your income, form the keystone habit of effective time management. The keystone habit will be your gateway to the other habits that will help to support and improve your life in any given area.

“Successful people are simply those with successful habits” – Brian Tracy

Make every effort to form good success habits in your life and watch your life blossom and bloom. Focus on the small, minute changes through the development of good, solid keystone habits, and stay the course. Don’t try to take on too much, too fast. Focus on the keystone habit for each goal you’ve set, and watch the other habits surreptitiously fall in line.

12 Things to Give Up If You Want to Be Successful and Experience More Bouts of Happiness

10 Things to Give Up If You Want to Be Successful and Experience More Bouts of Happiness | My Blooming Biz International

Happiness is definitely a feeling, a state of mind – it’s subjective – what constitutes being happy for one individual may not be the same for another. Likewise, the things that generate happiness for one may not be the same for another. However, we all desire to constantly have that experience of happiness, and spend a good portion of our time working at creating that happy life we crave. Being successful in our pursuits and endeavors adds to our standard of living and quality of life, and is a huge determinant in whether we experience happiness or not, and the length of time we experience it for. Since it’s impossible to experience happiness twenty four, seven, it’s imperative we do everything in our power to create the environment conducive to our ideal way of living, so we are better positioned to experience happiness, and keep a grasp on it as often as we can.

Here are 12 things you must give up to be successful and improve your odds of experiencing more bouts of happiness.

1. Fear

Fear is crippling! It is the number one reason many of us go through our entire life on the sidelines watching others take the leap, and living to their fullest capacity. Watching others succeed at doing what they love – putting it all out there, and reaping the rewards can be motivating. 12 Things to Give Up If You Want to Be Successful and Happy However, if you continue to be a spectator – watching them and not make the moves – actively pursuing your goals and dreams, you will be most unhappy and unsuccessful. Unsuccessful, because you haven’t tried. And unhappy, because as humans, we can only watch others succeeding for so long before becoming resentful, and at times – self-hating. Give it up! Let it go! Kick FEAR to the curb! Do not allow fear to steal the biggest, most invaluable experiences you can have. Do not allow fear to stifle your greatness. Yes, you have greatness within you, and your greatness is tied to others success. And since it’s only in giving that we receive, and receiving is such a huge proponent of success and happiness, step out of your “uncomfortable comfort zone” as Rachel Wilson Thibodeaux puts it in her book Destination Greatness, and pursue your dreams with all your might. How can you be truly happy when you haven’t given yourself the opportunity and permission to fully pursue your dreams? How can you be successful if you haven’t tapped your full potential? How can you experience true happiness when you’re not living the life you really desire?

2. Procrastination

A great man once said, “Procrastination is opportunity’s assassin” and that great man was right. In fact there is a nursery rhyme thought in early childhood years that scolds,

“When you have things to do, do it on the minute, cause every time you put if off, it’s harder to begin with.”

This could never be more true! How many times have you said to yourself, “I’ll do it tomorrow.” or I’ll do it next week” and then tomorrow comes and next week arrives and two months later it is still not done? If you’re like the majority of us, that answer will be, “more than I can count.” When we do what we have to do – when we have to do it, we clear the way for more opportunities to flow in. When we do what we have to do – when we have to do it, it takes us to our greater purpose sooner, and living our great purpose is when we are most successful and aligned to experience more bouts of happiness. Stop procrastination in its track and ensure you accomplish your goals. Do not put off for tomorrow what you can do today!

3. Complaining (Too Much)

Complaining is a very human thing to do – and yes, some people complain way more than others, but it’s human and we all do it at some point or another in varying situations. What we are cautioning is living a life of complaint – without taking into consideration what we can and cannot control, and subsequently working at minimizing or eliminating the problem or obstacle that is within our control. Think about it!  In most instances, nothing happens unless we do something.  For example, if you want to fit better in your outfits, stop complaining to yourself in the mirror or to your best friend who continuously give you solution-oriented ideas which you have not yielded to.  Instead, work at fixing those areas that are throwing off the look you desire.  Go to the gym and have a trainer devise a plan to target your specific problem area, and ensure you stick with it.

Yes, complaining is doing something, and it may very well yield favorable results, but complaining too much about something that you are capable of fixing is wasting valuable energy.  Energy is best used when directed at solving an issue rather than complaining – either to yourself or others about it, and not directly and intentionally moving towards solution.  Complaining rarely eliminate an issue! If you need something to be done that is outside your sphere of control and you do not complain about it, it will possibly never gets the attention it needs to be solved. However, constantly complaining about something that is within your sphere of control, and not deliberately working towards actually solving it, is futile and will yield no result.

4. The Need to Always Be Right

Having that strong will to always be right will cause you to miss out on important information and insight. The kind of information and insight that could improve your life in some way, or at the very least add to what you already now. None of us know everything! We are always learning. And the way we learn is receiving new knowledge that can be attained through numerous avenues, but in order for that to happen we must be open to listening and receiving instead of always pouring out, with the belief that we are always right. We must listen with understanding ears instead of listening only to respond and be understood.

5. The Need for Other’s Approval

Don’t you just love it when someone you regard commends you for something noteworthy you’ve done?  Or when the handsome stranger down the street gives his nod of approval of you and your ride?  Or your boss when he lets you know how much he appreciates your work and could not have done it without you?  We all do!  And again, needing approval and validation is a very human thing. However, when we go out of our way to be who society and others demands us to be, it puts a strain on us mentally, physically, and financially . Thus, we must work to minimize our dependency on it.  We must do everything in our power to be who we want to be, look the way we want to look, and live the way we want to live, and this can only be done if we continuously work on improving ourselves and embracing who we are – for ourselves.

6. Limiting Beliefs

Yes, there are limits to what we can and cannot do here in this beautiful realm called earth, but when it comes to what we can accomplish in our personal sphere of influence, possibilities are limitless.  You can be, do, and have whatever you desire but you may need to do more than others to achieve the varying feats. If you think you can, you will, and if you think you can’t , you won’t. You decide who you want to be, what you want to do, what you want to have and then draft a plan, create the design, and work persistently, consistently, and intentionally at it everyday. You can do it all!

7. Blaming Others

Many, many times – more often than not, others are to be blamed for a myriad of problems and issues we face. But when was the last time blaming someone has ever solved anything? Blaming others take attention, energy, and valuable time away from actually doing something about solving the issue. Whatever the situation, it has already happened.  What you can do now is decide what happens next. Turn your focus away from the perpetrator and the problem and towards yourself and the solution. If you have to request assistance, then by all means do so, but do not waste your precious time blaming others. When we get into the habit of blaming others, we become blinded to the part we possibly played in the deal. And so instead of looking inward at the man in the mirror, we focus all our attention on the other party or parties involved.  Evaluating the situation constructively will allow us to see clearly the role that each party played, and makes us better able to see our part, learn from it, and do our part to fix it.

8. Negative Self Talk

Negative self-talk is taking a toll on many of our outcomes, and many of us have no idea. We constantly tell ourselves, “I’m not good enough!” “I’m not going to succeed at it, may as well I don’t even try.”  Or “Living a wonderful life is for ‘them’ not me, it will never happen no matter what I do.”  Or “I’ve already tried this and it didn’t work, I’m not going to even try that.” Or worse yet, “I know it’s not going to work, but I’m going to try anyway.”   Our words are   P   O   W   E   R   F   U   L.   They create the scenarios and situations we experience.  Moreover, when we believe we cannot accomplish something, our bodily functions – internally and externally, behave in accordance with what we say which brings forth what we believe and have spoken.  You must change that!   If you want to begin succeeding – starting today, begin overriding your negative self-talks with positive self-talks, and then move with the actions and attitudes to manifest and materialize them.  You can do it!  You have the power to.  And the universe is there to conspire in your favor but it relies heavily on you to put forth the positives you desire – in words and deeds.

9. Dwelling on the Past

When they say the past determines the future, they are not asking us to dwell there in order to manifest a better future; what they are emphasizing we do is to analyze the past and use its good to enhance our future. However, that is not what most of us do!  Be honest, here! When we dwell on the past, we tend to fixate and focus on the bad parts that only make us feel horrible, and keeps us distracted in the coulda, woulda, shoulda sphere of thinking and ultimately – being.  Make a commitment to yourself today to put your past in its proper perspective, so you can focus your attention on your present, in preparation for your future.

10. Resistance to Change

Change is constant! Change is necessary!  Change can be good, and change can be bad, and more often than not we cannot control all the changes that occur.  What we must do however, is work at changing the things that are necessary for our personal growth and development and within our control to change, and learn to adapt to the things that are changing around us, and are outside of our control.  Of course there are at times pending changes put forth which if allowed to go through will upend our quality of life – such as often ensue in politics, but when this happen we must do everything in our power to try and stop those changes. We may not always win, but when something threatens to derail our livelihood, we cannot throw our hands up in silent resignation, instead we must fight to have that plan derailed. Going against the grain and resisting anything is difficult and challenging at best, so why resist change when they inevitably will occur?

11. The Need to impress Others

This is a very common phenomenon in our society today, and with the advent of the Internet and social media, it is becoming more and more prevalent to try and keep up with the Joneses and the Kardashians.  This is taking a major toll on our young women (and young men alike) who are finding it more and more difficult to have the means to accumulate material things so they can flaunt and show themselves acceptable, and remain a part of something that they deem important.  But there is another set of real people who neither work at impressing others or look for others to impress them.  They live authentically, being their real selves – knowing who they are and what they are about, and fully embracing themselves. Be yourself and you will impress and be accepted by real, genuine people – effortlessly.  If you are not happy with yourself physically, then start eating healthier, exercising more regularly, getting ample amount of sleep, and investing in better clothing.  If you’re not happy with your level of accomplishments thus far, then start looking for ways to improve this area.  If you’re not happy with where you are financially, then make the effort to either a) secure another job or a better paying job, b) start a side hustle using talents and skills you already have or learn new skills, c) start a business or take your business to the next level by investing in better marketing for your business, or d) begin putting your money to work for you by investing in stocks, bonds, cryptocurrency.  Life is precious yet unpredictable, don’t waste another minute trying to impress others.  Work on yourself – for yourself, and fully embrace YOU.

12. Being a People Pleaser (At Your Own Expense)

Last, but not least, give up being a people pleaser if you want to be successful and experience more bouts of happiness. What are some of the things that can happen when you’re a people pleaser?   You jeopardize your own goals and dreams. You compromise your health. You subconsciously begin the process of resenting yourself.   You live an unfulfilled, unhappy, inauthentic life.   If your friends and loved ones are the kind of people who drop everything to be by your side when you need them, then by all means you should also drop everything to be by their side when they need you. However, if they are not, you also should not be that for them. Being a people pleaser allow others to mindlessly use your time, and prevents you from mindfully using it. Being a people pleaser sucks you dry!   Commit to yourself today that you will put her first. That you will direct your focus at pleasing her, and not allow others to take advantage of her. You got this!

All the above-mentioned things are energy sappers and opportunity’s thieves. They will sap your energy, keep you in low vibration, and steal your happiness. Rid yourself of them and watch yourself succeed and live a happier, more fulfilling life. A life more true to YOU!

How to Attract The Right Things In Life So You Can Live Your Dreams

How to Attract the Right Things in Life

Wouldn’t it be amazing to attract just the right things into your life that will allow you to live your dreams? We all have dreams that we constantly think about – dreams so inspiring they keep us up at nights, and many of us have taken steps to help bring them to fruition such as setting SMART goals, crafting a plan to accomplish them, and consistently working towards them with discipline. But somehow it seems that regardless of how dedicated we are to realizing our dreams, we can never get close enough because there are things interfering with the equilibrium? There is a way! Something is missing from the equation, and it is observance of the Law of Attraction.

The best way to attract the right things in life, is to obey the Law of Attraction. Whether we believe in the Law of attraction or not, it is affecting our lives in one way or another – positively or negatively. Whether we are doing it knowingly or unknowingly, every second of our existence, we are acting as human magnets sending out our thoughts and emotions and attracting back more of what we have put out. But the good news is, we can command the Law of Attraction or the Universe to work in our favor by acknowledging: it, its power, its all-encompassing presence and doing everything in our power to lean in to the Law of Attraction and making it work for us. With that in mind, here are a few things you can do to ensure you attract what you want in your life.

.

Control Your Thoughts

5 Ways to Tap Into The Power of Your Thoughts and Channel It to Serve You

Thoughts build momentum over time, so be very careful of the things you tell yourself and think about.

Direct Your Focus

The Law of Attraction states that whatever you focus on, will be manifested. Whatever you focus on will be what you spend your time on, and what you spend your time on, will inevitably come to fruition. If you focus on a particular outcome in your life, that’s what’s going to eventually materialize. If you focus on your goals – how good it will feel to be living your dreams, and you envision that deeply enough – eventually, it will be manifested.

If you want to attract the right things into your life, direct your focus. Learn what to focus your mind’s eye on. If you concentrate on negativity, you’ll beget more of it. If you live in a state of fear, worry, anxiety, and stress, you’ll simply manifest those things. The subconscious mind will steer you towards whatever it is that you focus on, and over time, the all-powerful id will help to manifest the abstract into reality. So be the director of your focus and channel it only on things that you want to see manifested in your life.

Emit Positive Energy

According to the Law of Attraction, what you put out is what you’ll get in. So do whatever you have to do to always be in a positive mood. Eat right, exercise regularly, get ample amount of sleep, maintain healthy relationships, consistently set higher bars and reach them, share your passion.

It’s difficult to attract the right things into your life when you’re consumed with negative energy. The vibrational frequency of your energy will pull the equivalent towards you. So if you’re constantly living in a state of negativity, you’ll end up attracting more of that into your life. It’s a delicate balance and it needs to be kept in check if you’re going to achieve your dreams.

Exercise Integrity

Regardless of whether someone is around or not, you continue to do what’s right. No-one may be present, but the Universe is, and it will reward you in due season – favorably or unfavorably – depending on your deeds. Some call it karma, but whatever you call it, just know that you too will reap whatsoever you sow. Don’t think for one minute that you can short-change people and cheat them and get away scotch free! It may take a minute to get back around to you, but we promise you it’s coming. If you take others for granted in any way, you will be taken advantage of too. Not necessarily by the person or persons you have wronged, but someone somewhere at some point – in our universal sphere of operation – will respond to you with the wrath you have bestowed on others. So, do exercise integrity.

Participate in the Universal Reciprocity Network

This is another important thing you must do to attract the right things in your life; you must participate in what we term here at My Blooming Biz International, the Universal Reciprocity Network. Simply put, the law governing the Universal Reciprocity Network – the Universal Law of Reciprocity states that whatever you sow that also shall you reap. So if you sow a coconut, you will reap a coconut or coconuts. And depending on the soil and how you tend that seed, that’s the quality of what the result will be. No good soil, no tending, nothing to reap. Good soil, good tending, great quality and abundance of whatever you sow. If you are not a part of the URN, you will remain in a SPINN cycle. If you contribute nothing to the Universal Reciprocity Network, you will gain nothing from it. So, don’t sit idly by, and don’t be afraid to sow. Participate, sow, water your seeds and be prepared to reap in abundance.

Be What You Want to Attract

And finally, be what you want to attract. Like attract like. If you want a fit hunky partner, you have to be fit and attractive too. You must do the inner as well as the outer work before venturing out with your green light on looking for the right partner to latch on. And when the ones you view as “your type” aren’t giving you the time of day, you secretly blame them and refuse to look at yourself. Think about it, if you are in excellent shape as far as the eyes can see, would you be attracted to someone who is not in shape at all? Most definitely not! Also, if you have no money would you want someone with no money? And if you have money would you want someone with money? Sure you would not, and yes, you sure would – respectively. The same for intangibles. If you are kind, loving, caring, thoughtful, considerate, empathetic, the universe will respond to you in like forms. If you are unkind, unloving, uncaring, thoughtless, inconsiderate, pathetic, the universe will also respond to you in like forms. For many of us, it’s very easy to see what’s not cool about others but very hard to see what’s not cool about ourselves. So be what you want to attract – both tangibly and intangibly – outwardly and inwardly – and expect the universe to respond to you in like manner.

In order to live life on our own terms we need money - and lots of it, and in recognition of that, our CEO and founder Eugénie Nugent - in collaboration with her team, have designed programs that are specific to building wealth and becoming financially independent.

As she often say and strongly believe, "Having our finances in order is the highest form of self-love, a love that cannot help but to command respect."

Money is a subject many people are still hesitant to speak freely about, but money expands who we are, and what we are able to access. And so, as we teach here at My Blooming Biz; being open about money - changing the way we view, treat, and interact with money will be the difference in whether we snatch, snatch and let go, or snatch and hold on to it, as she wrote in her book, The Elusive Money: How to Snatch & Hold On To It

.

Bottom line: Money commands respect! And for those of us who were taught to hate money and negatively treat money, we need a new mindset in order to accept and act on this new reality.

Design Your Dream Lifestyle programs and events are designed to bring out the best in you and challenge you to empower yourself. In our CEO's own words, “We are here to pull things out of you that you didn’t know were there, and assist you in making them work for you, to the enhancement and betterment of your overall life.” She has selectively created five (5) programs to help women become empowered and she is relentless in making "the empowered woman lifestyle" a reality for thousands of women.
