How to Organize Your Life So It Work For and Not Against You

Organize Your Life So It Work For & Not Against You

Disorganization causes confusion and chaos! One cannot thrive in an environment where things are disorderly and out of place. We can all agree on that! Without order and organization, we cannot function effectively, and we will waste a lot of time moving aimlessly without a clear mission or the discipline to follow it. Our environment is a reflection of our inner man/woman. If our inner man/woman is organized and orderly, so will our immediate environs be. We will not tolerate prolonged disorder and chaos unless it is entirely outside of our control.

There is absolutely no doubt that we are sacked with tons of things to do on a daily basis from juggling our home, work, relationships, finances, health, errands, and everything in between, life can certainly be hectic. However, if we can put some order to it, we will be better able to find balance and function more efficiently.

Some of us like to leave important things that need to be done for the last minute, and try as we may, we cannot break the mold and nip that habit in the bud. Why? Because habits are the hardest things to break. Without intentional, deliberate, consistent effort to discard a bad habit and replace it with a good habit, it cannot be done.

So how can we organize our life so it work for us and not against us? Here are 5 ways:

1. Create a Mission Statement

The first step in decluttering and organizing your life is to create a mission statement. No! Mission statements are not only for corporations and businesses. In fact, people have been using them for generations and it is one of the main things successful people credit with the level of success they were able to attain. Creating a mission statement helps to give you a clearer and more precision-based focus on what you want and don’t want in your life. It does not have to be lengthy; it just need to have the things you value and want to make happen, and the things you do not value and will not work to make happen. Ask yourself, “What is important to me and what isn’t important to me?” We have designed a workbook to help with this specific task of figuring out what you want and does not want. It’s called our Dream Lifestyle Designing Workbook. It is geared towards you thinking about and answering questions that are vital to you deciding what you want to keep in your life right now, and what you want to get rid of. It could be things, people, environment. Whatever is not serving your higher purpose, now is the time to dispose of them.

Example of a Mission Statement

“I aspire to inspire others with my actions but will never forget the power of my voice. I will laugh at myself and help others experience joy. I will use my time mindfully and not allow anyone to mindlessly use my time. I will give and I will receive. I will not fear mistakes but will work earnestly to avoid them, and if they do occur, I will use them as catalysts to my advancement. I will create a welcoming home where peace, love and joy abide. I will love and nurture my family and do everything in my power to protect them. I will pursue my dreams with passion and allow nothing and no-one to deter me. I will seek out opportunities that can enhance my life and secure my dreams, and ensure opportunities find me ready. I will honor my commitments to myself and others, and align myself with people who do the same. I am committed to contributing to my community, growing as a person, finding and loving someone wholeheartedly, and building a business from the ground up – with integrity. I will travel the world and share experiences with people that will allow me to see life from another perspective. I will no longer tolerate or involve myself with people who help to bring about conflict, deceit, and frustration in my life. I will no longer feel sorrow, or regret my decisions – regardless of their outcome; I will either celebrate or deduct the lessons then toss them. I will no longer be bound or defined by my past, but will be emancipated and refined by my future.”

Yes, that was way long, but yours don’t have to be. Just make it inclusive and direct.

2. Set SMART Goals

Use the information from your mission statement to set some clear and specific goals for the things you want in life. Goals will help you to further your agenda by giving you a target of what you’re aiming at. Now that you understand the things you want and don’t want in your life, put some spatial recognition to it. Figure out when you want them by, so you can be able to measure your progress towards them.

Goals are important to decluttering your mind and organizing your life because they give you something to move towards. Goals that are SMART will define what you want and ensure you have the best chance of accomplishing it. For example, if you want to start your own business, you will want to decide “what kind of business it is” and “when you will open up shop”. You will also need to ascertain what you will need in order to achieve that goal, and the key people or institution that are necessary components to you accomplishing your goal. If you want to travel the world, how many cities do you want to see? and by when? Specifically write out all of the cities you’ll visit in your life and when you’ll do it. This way, you have a moving target. Your goals can also then be broken down into milestones that will help you to see what you need to achieve this week, month, and year. It’s so important to organizing your life. Without a concrete set of goals we’re like ships without sail.

3. Develop a Routine & Stick to It

Life is a series of routines that are based on habits. These habitual sets of behaviors are aggregated to form our typical day. For the disorganized person, routines are generally interrupted by unexpected occurrences that result from either a lack of planning, some form of procrastination, or the result of some constant or on-going emergency or crisis. For example, when relationships, health, or financial problems reach epidemic levels, life tends to get more chaotic and less organized. Some things we cannot control and they demand we disrupt our routine, however, we still need to have structure and guide to our day in order to be productive. Start with a morning routine and a nightly routine, and organize the other important things in between. That way you create structure and organization that help to command your day.

When you’re so busy dealing with something that’s taking so much of your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical resources, it’s difficult to get centered and make any progress. However, by creating routines and sticking to them, you can help to manage the day-to-day chaos and help bring some order to your life. Without established routines, life merely becomes a set of responses to stimuli that are hurled from every direction. Without a routine in place that will help to promote both a happy and healthy lifestyle, along with a positive response to things outside of our control, life can take on a very disastrous tone.

4. Manage Your Time

We cannot stress enough how important effective time management is. Carefully and intentionally manage your time by using the Eisenhower principle which Stephen R. Covey elaborated on in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Everything is categorized by its level of urgency and importance and can fall into 4 quadrants – 1) urgent and important, 2) not urgent but important, 3) urgent but not important, 4) not urgent and not important.

When you can organize your daily tasks and look at things that come up as fitting into these four quadrants, then you can better tackle the things that are important to you. Most of us are busy responding to things that are urgent but not important. We’re also usually busy doing things that are both not urgent and not important, such as mindlessly watching television for hours on end.

The goal here is to tackle the not urgent but important quadrant of things that need to be done in your life. These are what help you to strive towards your long-term goals. So, to better declutter things and organize your life by using your mission statement and goals, you can help to make daily lists that will allow you to more effectively manage your time.

5. Minimize Stress

Stressors are everywhere, and everyone experience stress at some point in their lives. In fact, we can’t simply say that we’ll eliminate all of the stress in our lives because we’re at the mercy of external forces at times that includes other people and situations and are beyond our control. However, what we can do is minimize stress. We can do the things that are relevant and vital to our peace of mind, and ensure our immediate environ is welcoming, relaxing, and nurturing. We can be at the mercy of others but it doesn’t mean that our mental state has to suffer because of it. We can create individual spaces – both physically, mentally, and spiritually, where we can escape the stressors that are so pervasive, and be at peace. If you can setup systems to avoid or minimize stress, then you can better function and focus more on the things that matter to you.

One of the biggest stressors many people face, is lack of financial stability and the constant battle to fulfill their obligations and make ends meet. This is why we have created so many programs here at My Blooming Biz International to help women combat financial lack. Programs such as our: UPPPP Your Genius, WERK Your Money Making Genie, and MASTER Your Finances were created and developed to ensure women get to live and enjoy what we call, “the empowered woman lifestyle”. They are at the center of what we do here, as we recognize that financial independence is the cornerstone to anyone enjoying a high standard of living and a good quality of life. Being financially secure is a huge hurdle in avoiding unnecessary stress, and we should all make it our priority to become financially secure. When your finances are in order you are better able to afford those things that are necessary for full organization. You can shop and stock your home well, eat well, acquire the things for your comfort, and better keep things in place.

When you have a mission statement, and you use it as a guide, it can help to put stressful situations into perspective. If there’s a problem on the horizon, think about how you can resolve that problem while adhering to your mission statement. Your mission statement will be like a constitution for governing your life; you can see what things fit and what don’t, and for the things that don’t fit, you can craft some policies for eliminating them from your life. In order to avoid stressors, you must organize your life. There is no way around it! Organization helps us to not lose sight of what we’re reaching for, and keeps us in the know of what we are doing vs what we should be doing.

6. Home & Office Organization

A clean home, office, and overall environment invoke a clean clear mind. In order to declutter and organize your life, you have to organize your surroundings. When your home is messy, cluttered, with things strewn all about, it is difficult to have any sense of mental organization or purpose. Unfortunately, many of us live with clutter surrounding us; we bask in the chaos and plead that we have our own system when in reality it doesn’t serve us in the least! To organize your life, do a deep clean from top to bottom; everything from your house, to your car, to your office, all needs to be cleaned and fully organized, and make every effort to maintain it.

If you don’t organize and clean your surroundings, your mind has a funny way of cataloging your to-do’s in the depth of your subconscious and using it to help you put other things off. If you have trouble with procrastination, decide that you will spend just 10 to 15 minutes each day cleaning and organizing. For the sanity and clarity organization brings to our lives, that’s the least we can do!

10 Success Habits The Empowered Woman Employ

10 Success Habits The Empowered Woman Employ

Our habits are at the center of who we are and what we do. They are derived from repetitious behavior over time as our minds etch them into patterns called neural pathways. These neural pathways help to govern our lives and make everyday tasks simpler; however, these tasks are done subconsciously and we don’t all have habits that serve us. In fact, most of our habits aren’t success habits; most of our habits are bad habits. These bad habits are what set us back. They’re the late-night snacking on not-so-healthy foods, or the over-watching of television, over-surfing of the Internet, smoking cigarettes when we know we should be quitting, and just about anything else that is a disservice to us. You know what your bad habits are! And, you know what your good habits are. The problem is that most peoples’ bad habits outweigh their good habits, and it’s a huge challenge to break bad habits and develop good habits. Nonetheless, we must all work at developing success oriented habits!

We all want to be successful in life at something! We have visions, goals and dreams we want to accomplish and often set in motion plans to achieve them. However, while some of us push tirelessly toward them every day and don’t relent until we accomplish what we set out to, that “some of us” is a very low number. According to a University of Scranton research, the number of people who accomplish their new year resolution goals is actually just 8%. Only 8 out of 100 people who set a goal on New Year’s actually accomplish it. Surprising? Not at all! We have all been there before when we’ve set goals, got excited about them, then when that excitement wore off, so did our drive to pursue those goals. The difference though, is in the passion we have for the dreams we have, and the habits we set in motion to ensure we achieve them.

So what are some of the habits we can adopt to ensure we accomplish our goals?

Here are 10 Success Habits The Empowered Woman Employ

Success Habit 1. The Empowered Woman Set Goals Daily

The first success habit the empowered woman employ is to set her goals every single day. And, she does not only set them and forget them, she follows through. Otherwise, it does not work! She understands that working the plan is just as important as making the plan. So, set your goals every single day and look at your progress. Even if you set long-term goals, you have to review them every day. Break them down into smaller goals and milestones that you can accomplish daily. Goal setting is an important skill to have! And not passive goal setting where it’s vaguely in your mind, it must be active goal setting where it’s written down on paper and visible, instead of being tucked away. They have to be visceral! When your goals are real and on paper, something changes – it becomes real. You have a target!

The empowered women recognizes that the habit of goal setting is a must-have success habit because everything in life revolves around goals. If you set your goals properly, and you know what you want, when you want it by, and why you want it, then your life takes on an entirely different meaning. You have some sense of purpose; you’re not just aimlessly going about your day, but you are intentional and purposeful.

Success Habit 2. The Empowered Woman Manages Her Time Efficiently

The second success habit the empowered woman employ is to manage her time efficiently. Time management is essential to succeeding in any area of our lives. We all know just how much time we waste on a daily basis doing things that we probably shouldn’t be doing. We excessively surf the web, chat on social media, text message with our friends, watch television, go out too often, and the list goes on and on. At the end of the day, the things that are vital to the achievement of our big goal are not touched on at all.

The empowered woman knows that in order to manage her time efficiently, she has to get organized. This literally only takes a few minutes each day. The first thing you’ll need to do is adhere to the #1 success habit and that is to set goals daily. When you break your day down into what you need to do, you can categorize the importance of those things. Based on the Eisenhower Principle of time management, everything can be categorized on a scale of urgent and important. So, on this scale as Stephen R. Covey in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People explained, there are four quadrants based upon the urgency and importance of any task. Tasks can either be Quadrant 1) urgent and important, Quadrant 2) not urgent but important, Quadrant 3) urgent but not important, or Quadrant 4) not urgent and not important. The place to spend most of your time is in Quadrant 2, which is the area that enhance your life and propel you towards achieving your long-term goals.

5 Ways to Stop Procrastinating So You Can Accomplish Your Goals - Time Management Matrix - My Blooming Biz

Success Habit 3. The Empowered Woman Measures and Tracks Everything

The third success habit the empowered woman employ is to measure and track everything; from her goals, to her time, to her finances, to her weight, and everything in between. She knows that the only way to make changes where change is necessary, is to measure her progress – whether she is advancing or declining, whether she is moving along at the pace she intended, what areas need change, and what can be done to accelerate her progress. Tracking means you are intentional about what you’re doing. When you track your time, your time goes only where you want it to. When you track your finances, your money goes only where you want it to. When you track your weight, you maintain only the weight you want to keep. Everything you track, you are able to do something about it to ensure it works for you and not against you.

This success habit doesn’t take that much time. There is some initial setup, say in building a spreadsheet that can help you track things like your weight, your expenses, and so on. But, the daily input of the numbers doesn’t take that long. Getting into the habit of doing this is the hard part, but once you have pushed through with discipline, it will become easier and your new auto habit. So, commit to spending 15-minutes each day tracking everything. You can do it in the beginning of the day for the prior day or at the end of the day for that same day. If you promise yourself you will only spend 15 minutes doing something, your brain realizes that it’s not a huge hurdle for it to make. In fact, none of the 10 success habits the empowered woman employ, will take you huge commitments of time. What it will take is actually engaging in them on a consistent basis – day after day.

Success Habit 4. The Empowered Woman Budget and Spend Wisely

The fourth success habit the empowered woman employ is to budget and spend wisely. She recognizes that money is one of the most important tools in this world and that if you aren’t born into a family with unlimited resources AND have access to it, you will need to carefully monitor your finances and continuously seek out ways to increase it. She is prudent in her monetary affairs, and takes every step necessary to not only maximize her earning potential, but also to ensure every dollar goes only where she wants it to. As humans, especially us women, we can be excessively impulsive with our spending. We don’t spend wisely and tend to base our decision-making process to purchase something on the subconscious inner directive of our mind. We’re not sure why we bought something, we just knew we had to have it. When you don’t budget and conduct your financial affairs accordingly, the ego has a way of shrouding your mindset and controlling your behavior with excuses as to why you should spend on whatever you want. It is a product of misinformation and an all-out manipulation by the subconscious mind. You simply had to have that “thing” because it was on sale and it might never go on sale again, blah, blah, blah.

So, budgeting and spending wisely is a success habit that the empowered woman employ and most of us know we need to implement. If you can take 15 minutes every day to track your spending and check your budget to ensure you are on par, then your ego will have less control as you would be in the know and more prone to be mindful of your spending – what you can and cannot afford, what is included and not included in your budget. You can use an app such as Mint.com to track your spending. This won’t be easy at first. Like any of the other success habits mentioned here, it’s going to take some effort. But all you have to do is commit yourself to the process, and use 10 to 15 minutes every day to check your progress. If you can do that, then you can build on the momentum, and after a while it will become the new habit you formed. Just get started!

Success Habit 5. The Empowered Woman Pays Herself First

The fifth success habit the empowered woman employ is to pay herself first. One of the most important financial habits for success is paying yourself first. When you pay yourself first, you’re ensuring that YOU are taken care of before anything else. You are making sure that you have savings and are covered in the event anything unforeseen and unplanned – life’s curves get thrown at you, you are prepared. You also want to ensure you are saving for your future when you will not be able to work as you can now when you are younger and more vibrant. Deciding on a sum and putting aside that portion in your saving and investment account, is the surefire way to secure yourself and your well-being. We here at MBB recommend deducting and saving at least 15% of your income from each paycheck, as soon as it is cashed. If you have a successful business, you can choose to set aside more. The more, the better! You can choose to have your bank deduct and transfer that amount from your checking to your savings or investment account automatically each pay period, which will ensure your portion gets set aside.

If your future means something to you then this is a success habit you must implement. We all want and wish the best for ourselves but we don’t know what the future holds. We don’t know what will happen in the next minute let alone a year or two, and so this makes it vitally important to save and continuously increase our net worth. Saving is a habit that invokes so much more than just putting money on autopilot, when you pay yourself first, this success habit actually activates a part of the mind that tells you you are getting somewhere – you are secure. So change your mindset! Make that shift and start paying yourself first. You will not be able to make significant progress in life without these kinds of success habits that will empower you and allow you to build a foundation for growth in the future.

Success Habit 6. The Empowered Woman Exercise Every Day

The sixth success habit the empowered woman employ is to exercise every day. Exercise does not have to be an enormous mental hurdle. In fact, there are a variety of ways to exercise and you can commit to doing the most basic which is a few stretches followed by a brisk 15 minute walk – everyday. You can walk around the block in your neighborhood, or choose to use a treadmill. The most important thing is that you do some form of exercise, and once you get started and continue to for a while, it will become the new good habit you have formed. Once you commit to 15 minutes each day and follow through the first few days, your mind will cease trying to talk you out of it. Your subconscious won’t be able to help you reason your way out of why you don’t want to exercise any day.

This success habit is important to your health, your vitality, and your overall well-being. Learn to embrace it! If you have a hard time getting started in the morning, then place your running shoes and clothes next to your bed. When you open your eyes in the morning, lace up, get dressed, and hit the ground running (or walking). Don’t think about it! Just do it!

Success Habit 7. The Empowered Woman Get Ample Amount of Sleep

The seventh success habit the empowered woman employ is to get ample amount of sleep. The empowered woman knows that in order for her to operate at her best and maintain her overall health, she must get the amount of sleep her body, mind, and spirit require, and as such, she takes time out to ascertain her sleep number so she can get the amount of sleep her body needs in order to function optimally. One of the best habits that seem to allude most people is to get ample amount of sleep. We are all alike but different in a lot of ways, and our sleep number or number of hours required for us to function at our best, varies from person to person. This is why it is important for each of us to check ourselves and know what our individual sleep number is. When you awake in the mornings you should not be groggy or tired, you should feel well rested, replenished, and rejuvenated. If you do not, then it means you need more rest. You have not used your sleep number!

Success Habit 8. The Empowered Woman Takes Daily Action

The eighth success habit the empowered woman employ is taking daily action. The empowered woman knows that becoming complacent and slacking off – even for a day, can become habit forming and thus detrimental to her success. Many people have attested to this phenomenon that refusing to remain consistent even in short instances, will pave the way for all out complacency. We have all been there at some point in our life when we say, “oh, I’ll do it tomorrow” or “It’s not terrible if I take a day off, I’ll do it tomorrow” and then tomorrow became the following day, and the following day became the following day, and on and on it goes all the way to not getting done at all. Procrastination is not in the empowered woman’s handbook! And it shouldn’t be in yours! When you can habitually take action towards your goals and dreams, you get closer and closer with each passing day. Even if the progress is minimal, as long as it’s constant, you will get to your goal.

Success Habit 9. The Empowered Woman Makes Healthy Choices

The ninth success habit the empowered woman employ is making healthy choices. Making healthy choices can be difficult, especially when we’re pressed for time. We may grab the nearest burger from the fast food joint closest to us because we are pressed for time and at times tired too. We may choose to skip our exercise regime because we are working at something and need to meet a deadline. We may choose to stay up all night just so we can watch that movie marathon we’ve been itching to watch for days. And the list goes on and on. The empowered woman knows the importance of always being in good shape – mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially and so she deliberately make choices that will allow her to remain in great shape at all times.

In order to help in making the right choices, you must get organized and set things in motion to facilitate making healthy choices. For example, you can plan your meals for your week on the weekend and even prep or partially prep some of them. You can try to not leave things for last minute where you have to sacrifice your fitness regimen. And you can choose to watch your marathon at a more appropriate time by DVRing it and watching it at a time more convenient that’s not cutting in to your sleep time. Have an apple ready on hand if you get hungry to snack rather than a candy bar because your body will thank you. Our body spends more than 50% of its energy digesting foods that are rich in carbs, fats, and sugars. As such, we should focus on natural fats and sugars through things like avocados, fruits, vegetables, and naturally-sourced foods. This is a major success habit that literally takes little to no time if you plan ahead. All you have to do is decide that you’ll make better decisions on a daily basis about what you eat, when you sleep, and what you will and will not allow to interfere with your healthy habits.

Success Habit 10. The Empowered Woman Practice Gratitude Everyday

The 10th and final success habit the empowered woman employ is practicing gratitude everyday. This does not take much time to implement! And, the empowered woman is very much aware of the positives that come from being grateful and showing gratitude. She maintains a gratitude journal and writes what she is grateful for every, single, day. We can all find something to be thankful for everyday. Clean water. Nutritious foods. The ability to use our mental faculties. The ability to live, breathe, and move about freely without any form of mechanical aid. Getting back home safely after a long day out. Our family being happy, healthy, and by our side. And so many more things we can give thanks for daily. It doesn’t have to be big! It could even be that the rain started falling just as you walk through the door and are home safely with your family. All you need to do is spend 5 or 10 minutes each day writing out what you have to be grateful for and why. If you say that you have nothing to be grateful for then you’re not thinking hard enough. The problem that many of us have in life is that we only tend to look at the BIG things and compare ourselves to the Joneses (and the Kardashians) when we fall short. At the end of your day, just tune in in a quiet place, and think about your day and those little things that you appreciate that made your day worthwhile. You will see you have so much to be grateful for!  Remember, gratitude opens the door so that success can enter in.

In a nutshell, the empowered woman invests in herself – physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.  She knows that if she takes care of herself – mind, body, spirit, they will in turn take care of her.  She knows that what she puts in is what she’ll get out, and does everything in her power to learn, grow, and thrive.

7 Ways The Empowered Woman Invests In Herself

7 Ways The Empowered Woman Invests In Herself - My Blooming Biz International

One of the things we like to do here at MBB, and encourage women to do as well, is to seek out ways to continuously improve ourselves. According to personal development legend Jim Rohn, “to have more than you’ve got, you must become more than you are”. Thus continual personal growth will ensure we always become better than we were – as each day goes by. Personal development includes activities that help you improve your hard and soft skills, cultivate your talents, and tap into your potential so you can improve your overall quality of life. These aren’t one-time activities; they involve a commitment you make to continue to learn and grow in every stage of your life.

Here are 7 Ways The Empowered Woman Invests in Herself

1. The Empowered Woman Takes Classes and Attend Seminars

Learning doesn’t need to stop once you’ve graduated college. Signing up for classes and attending seminars that are of interest to you and serve your higher purpose will give you the opportunity to learn and grow outside of the traditional confines of school. Enroll for workshops or webinars provided by professional organizations you belong to, or personal interest hobby group offering things you enjoy. Websites such as Coursera, Udemy, and Skillshare allow you to learn new skills and improve the ones you already have.

2. The Empowered Woman Reads a Variety of Quality Books

The most successful people carve time out of their days to read. Not only does reading increase your knowledge, it also improves your memory, vocabulary and focus, while sharpening your analytical skills and reducing stress. Get recommendations from friends or co-workers, or check out the best-seller lists from The New York Times or your local bookstore. We also have select books that we have purchased and used here at MBB for women empowerment that we compiled in a series called “Transformational Book Series – Our Picks“.

3. The Empowered Woman Takes Advantage of Mentorship

If you want to get ahead in your career, business, or life, a mentor can help you in a myriad of ways. They can help you: improve your self-confidence, be more definitive about what you want and how to go about getting it, tap into your potential and find ways to uplevel your finances, find balance in your life and many other things. Since they do not have a personal stake in your success, they will provide unbiased feedback as they share their experiences and offer tips and encouragement to help you thrive. Find a mentor through your professional organization or ask someone in your company or industry who models the traits you would like to hone, and/or have achieved the level of success you would like to reach.

4. The Empowered Woman Watch Empowering Videos

Many of us spend our evenings relaxing in front of the television. Optimize your time and watch videos from leading personal development experts, or experts in your field of interest. You’ll not only learn but you will also become motivated to make lasting positive changes in your personal as well as business life. Watch inspirational films that will leave you feeling uplifted and encouraged.

5. The Empowered Woman Listens to Empowering Podcasts

We are living in the age of podcasts, and it is phenomenal! Podcasts are a popular way to listen and learn anywhere, whether you’re getting ready for work, driving to the office, or jogging on the treadmill at the gym. Regardless of where you are, you can be tuned in to an empowering podcast, and continue your process of self improvement. There is a podcast to fit all your needs and interests – whether you want to: keep up on current events, take charge of your finances, take your career or business to the next level, or enhance your spirituality.

6. The Empowered Woman Join Empowerment Groups & Organizations

Empowerment groups and organizations allow you to connect with other like-minded individuals who are committed to growing personally and/or professionally. In addition to networking, these groups and organizations also provide opportunities to take workshops and classes, find mentors, and look for new opportunities in your field. Empowerment groups allow for the forming of relevant relationships and provide a cultivating atmosphere where bonds can be strengthened.

7. The Empowered Woman Volunteer To Help Empower Others

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community while refining skills and traits, such as team-work, empathy, and communication. In addition to improving existing talents and skills, you may also learn new skills to apply in your line of work or business. If you are starting a new career or have moved to a new area, volunteering allows you to gain experience and expand your network. The most important part of volunteering is experiencing the joy giving back brings. When you look at the way you are impacting others lives, it will give you a renewed sense of purpose which will continue to propel you forward with the amazing plans you have for your life. Serving others not only nurtures positive feelings, it also lowers the risk of depression and reduces stress.

Investing in yourself is in essence, empowering yourself, and a huge part of what enables us to live the lifestyle we desire and deserve – “the empowered woman lifestyle”. We believe that every woman should live an empowered life, with just the right design for her, and the best way to do that is to continuously invest in yourself – “sharpen your saw” as Stephen R. Covey terms it in his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Our programs and workshops are designed to help ambitious women equip themselves with the right tools and use them to catapult them to living their best lives possible.

In addition to being created because we understand the brilliance, beauty, and boldness of women and the role that being balanced and purpose-driven can play in improving women’s lives, My Blooming Biz was created to help women harness their skills and talents and use them to propel a ton of money to flow in. In order to live life on our own terms we need money – and lots of it, and in recognition of that, our CEO and founder Eugénie Nugent – in collaboration with her team, have designed programs that are specific to building wealth and becoming financially independent.

As she often says and strongly believes, “Having our finances in order is the highest form of self-love, a love that cannot help but to command respect.

Money is a subject many people are still hesitant to speak freely about, but money expands who we are, and what we are able to access. And so, as we teach here at My Blooming Biz; being open about money – changing the way we view, treat, and interact with money will be the difference in whether we snatch, snatch and let go, or snatch and hold on to it, as she wrote in her book, The Elusive Money: How to Snatch & Hold On To It.

Bottom line: Money commands respect! And for those of us who were taught to hate money and negatively treat money, we need a new mindset in order to accept and act on this new reality.

Design Your Dream Lifestyle programs and events are designed to bring out the best in you and challenge you to empower yourself. In our CEO’s own words, “We are here to pull things out of you that you didn’t know were there, and assist you in making them work for you, to the enhancement and betterment of your overall life.” She has selectively created five (5) programs to help women become empowered and she is relentless in making “the empowered woman lifestyle” a reality for thousands of women.

Download your FREE copy of our Lifestyle Designing Workbook and complete the worksheets. It is packed with thought-provoking questions to get you thinking about your current life situation, where you would rather be, and how you can equip yourself (with our help) to get there. Align yourself with the reality you want for you, by creating a vision board that works to bring your vision to fruition.

Our next DYDL event will be in January, so sign up to our newsletter to be informed when our venue is solidified.

18 Surefire Things You Can Do To Enjoy A High Quality of Life

A famous author once wrote, “If standard of living is your number one objective, quality of life almost never improves. But if quality of life is your number one objective, standard of living invariably improves.” That famous author is none other than the great Zig Ziglar. Quality of life and standard of living can intertwine to help us experience an amazing life; however, focusing solely on improving our standard of living will not help us enjoy a good quality of life.

What is Quality of Life?

Many people simply define their quality of life by the amount of money they have. And, while money is a good barometer, it isn’t the full equation. Quality of life is the sum of your health, happiness, vitality, leisure, and finances. So, in order for you to enjoy a good quality of life, you must first decide what that good quality of life consists of – for you. We all want to be the healthiest we can be, and most of us continue to strive to be the healthiest, as that is the foundation for a good quality of life. Having great health is universal. However, when it comes to happiness, vitality, and leisure those are individual and must be defined by each of us, and subsequently courted. Our finances help us to maintain a good quality of life by affording us the proper foods, environs, and overall lifestyle we desire.

What is Standard of Living?

Standard of living is the lifestyle your level of finances can afford you. As mentioned above, your finances will have a huge effect on your quality of life, but it isn’t the full picture. Money does make the world go round! People with access to money and resources can most certainly improve many areas of their lives. Having an abundance gives us access to and inclusion in the upper echelons of society and all that it embodies. But it’s also been proven in studies that people with a lot of money aren’t statistically that much happier, simply because they have a lot of money. It takes much more than mere abundance of money for anyone to enjoy a good quality of life. Thus, for many experiencing an increase in their finances – without the other backing qualities for a good life, will only equate to a temporary improvement of happiness. Eventually, that sporadic boost of happiness will dissipate and the other underlying qualities – the intangibles, will need to be there to cushion them and ensure they continue to have a good quality of life.

So how can you improve the quality of your life?

You can improve the quality of your life by peaking what we term here The Five Ally’s, and designing what works best for you in the eight key areas of your life, then bringing “that” to fruition through mindset shift, good habits, and discipline.

We all get frustrated from time to time, and life can be overwhelming, even for the most optimistic, forward-thinking individuals. We make plans, set goals, and commit ourselves to accomplishing them but things don’t always go according to plan and without a clairvoyant view of our future it can be overbearing – when stances in life throws us off track, and makes us want to give up. This is why it is super important to look inward, work at peaking our Ally’s, and finding our happy place, which will create a safe haven – a place to always get back to, after we are sidetracked or knocked off course by life’s inevitable events.

When these things happen and you are faced with adversities, remember, you are not alone! We all go through periods of frustration, anxiety, fear, upset, and worry. Centering ourselves in the five Ally’s and aligning ourselves with the right people, environs, and ideal lifestyle we desire will certainly help us through those times, and ensure we get back to happy – enjoying a good quality of life after we have taken time out to grieve, mourn, and endure that period of downtime we experience as humans in this life form.

Here are Eighteen Surefire Things You Can Do to Enjoy a High Quality of Life:

1. Eat a Healthy Breakfast – Everyday

We know you’ve heard it before! But we are saying it again. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Studies have shown that women who skipped breakfast at least once per week were at higher risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. And studies have shown that by eating breakfast everyday, men had lower incidences of heart disease. Studies have also shown that having breakfast everyday will increase memory, lower weight, and reduce LDL (bad cholesterol) for everyone. Fiber-rich breakfast including (ripe bananas, berries, avocados, almond filled cereals) topped with alkaline rich fruits (oranges, grapefruits, tangerine, watermelon, ripe bananas) will ensure you remain charged for your mornings, while fueling your body’s organs and systems for longevity. Our bodies need a healthy, balanced and nutritionally packed breakfast to help it operate optimally throughout each day. Considering that our health is the foundation for a good quality of life, why not do everything in your power to ensure you maintain great health?

2. Eat Green – Everyday

Eating green is about making healthy choices when it comes to the foods we eat on a daily basis. Choose to go the organic way! Foods that are organic in nature such as root vegetables, fruits, lemons, peppers, and so on (raw foods) contains the most alkaline and are best for balancing our pH level. Too much acid is bad for our health, thus our intake of acidic foods should be minimal. Green eating is not only great for our overall health and waistline, it’s also very good for our environment. Mix it up by enjoying a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein-rich legumes. Food colors represent different antioxidants and nutrient-composition, so eat a wide variety to maintain excellent health so you can continue enjoying a high quality of life.

3. Exercise Regularly (no, once weekly does not qualify

Exercise comes in many form. As such, there is some form of exercise we all can do on a daily basis in order to keep our mind and body in excellent shape. No excuse! You can walk a few blocks making swift steps with coordinated brisk arm movements. If your arms cannot freely move as you walk, you will not experience a full body workout. Your feet will get that exercise, but your arms will not, so avoid hindering your arms with luggage. You may also jog a couple blocks, or dance through some aerobic/yoga/kickboxing if you prefer to stay indoor. These are all alternatives to going to the gym but we highly recommend the gym experience because it can be so wholistic and more than just exercise. In addition to tuning your entire body, keeping you in shape, and sharpening your mind, exercise adds vigor and vitality. It literally puts a “pep in your step” as some of our old folks usually say, and emits confidence. Our point is to find a simple daily exercise regimen and stick to it.

4. Drink Lots of Water & Remain Hydrated Throughout Your Day

We all know the health benefits of water both internally as well as externally. Our body needs water to transport nutrients from one point to another throughout our many internal systems, as well as to help maintain homeostasis. The daily recommended amount of water is usually 8 (8 oz) glasses, however, some of us may require more or less at different times (seasons) throughout each year. The more water you lose, the more you need to put in. For example, in the summer time we will need to drink more water than in the winter time, as the temperature (atmosphere) demands that we do. Also, depending on what you do for a living – how physically active you are, you may need to drink more water than someone who is not as physically active throughout their day as you will be losing more water through perspiration. This also should be done at regular intervals throughout the day – keep hydrated! So we all require varying amounts of water depending on our activity level, as well as environment. Don’t deny your body clean water! Like a vehicle needs fuel to function, so does our body needs water to function.

5. Brush, Floss Teeth & Tend Your Hygiene

This may seem like a no brainer, especially in todays advanced age where everything is so readily available, but some people are not taking advantage of this and their hygiene sucks! What does hygiene have to do with quality of life? The answer is A LOT! First of all, our gums are connected to the rest of our body and if those gums get bad from maltreatment, the bad unhygienic blood will go into the rest of the body and cause a lot of things to go wrong. Yes, gum disease can cause serious illness such as heart disease, erectile dysfunction, and delayed conception. No surprise here! Our heart pumps the blood flow throughout our body, and blood causes the penis to become erect. Don’t tamper with your blood! Secondly, cleansing our body removes dead cells, and just like the dead, it cannot remain a part of us. Dead cells need to be gone so our body can breathe – free of clogging. Brushing and flossing is very simple to do, and can be so very beneficial. And don’t you think a beautiful smile will enhance your social experiences as well as a pleasant hygiene? When you look and smell good, you feel good, and that by the law of attraction will be reciprocated.

6. Know Your Sleep Number & Get Ample Amount of Sleep

There is no question that sleep is a necessity for all of us. Studies have shown that not only does sleep help to improve things like memory, but it also helps to boost the longevity of life, increase awareness, and spur creativity. It is when we sleep that our body gets to repair, restore, and recharge our cells, organs and organ systems. But how much sleep is enough sleep? That will depend on our individual sleep numbers. And our individual sleep number can be ascertained by going to bed at a certain time (make a note of the time before sleeping) and sleeping until you awake and cannot go back to sleep even if you try, and you are feeling rested and energized. Make a note of the time you awake, then count the number of hours you slept for. Do this for seven nights, and the mode (hours that occur the most) will be your sleep number. For example, if on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday you sleep for 8 hours and wake up feeling amazing, and on Tuesday and Friday you sleep for 7 hours and wake up feeling amazing, your mode is 8 hours and so your sleep number is 8 hours. You can try this for longer if you wish, but the point is that YOU – like all of us – have your own unique sleep number and you should find it and ensure you get it on a nightly basis. Sleep deprivation deprives us of living and enjoying a high quality of life. Know your sleep number and get it!

7. Meditate & Connect With Your Source – Everyday

It is true that getting away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life and connecting with our self and our source, will have us living a more enriching, meaningful and fulfilling life. Pausing and resorting to quiet solitude allows us to fill up and replenish on a spiritual level so we are able to operate in our highest self and optimal power. We are all connected to a higher source, and whether we believe it or not, tapping into that source will help us to become our best selves. Practicing the art of meditation also decrease stress levels, normalize blood pressure, and ease anxiety. This doesn’t have to be all religious; just go to a quiet place, sit quietly and be present. Don’t think about the past or the future. Don’t dwell on things or worry; just be in the moment. Sit silently with your eyes closed and listen to the sounds around you, or nothingness if indoors. If you have quiet places outdoor where you can be close to nature, choose to meditate there instead. Feel the air moving in and out of your lungs, the warmth of the sun on your body, the coolness of the breeze sweeping over you. Be still and present. That’s all it takes. Meditation calms our nerves, centers us, and makes us better in temperament, vitality, and actions. You will find how amazing it is to connect with your higher self and the clarity and confidence you will come away with each time. Meditate and connect with your source to experience a higher quality of life.

8. Exercise Your Mental With Daily Learning

There is an old saying that if we do not use it we will use it, and this is one area where this can definitely be applied. Millions of neurons die everyday because they are not being used up. And neurons are needed for our brains and minds to be at their sharpest and best. Learning daily will keep them working and preserve our ability to remember things. Also, learning new things allow us to grow, mature, and gain experiential knowledge of the world and be better comrades for each other. It allows us to put life into perspective, and ultimately achieve our dreams by laying the groundwork for our personal and professional lives. There are tons of ways available to do this – thanks to technology! You can get you a book, newspaper, magazine, video tutorial, blog post, or anything else that you enjoy using as a learning resource and partake everyday.  You an access one of the many Meetups and events and sign up to participate and do different things to exercise different parts of the brain.  Don’t get your brain stuck in a SPINN cycle!  Go for walks, learn new things (gardening, farming, fishing, cooking), meet new people, see live plays, and indulge in games.   You don’t have to commit to using up a lot of your time! You can use just 15 – 20 minutes some days to exercise those neurons and mental muscles, and an hour to a few hours on other days and become more well-rounded while enjoying a high quality of life.

9. Make Connections, Give & Receive Love

Connecting socially is a part of who we are. We cannot get away from it! Whether it’s with family, friends, colleagues or business associates, we must make and maintain connections in order to enjoy a high quality of life. It’s the most amazing thing to receive love, but it is also highly fulfilling to give love and experience the joy of the recipients. Even animals are capable of giving and receiving love, and it is one of the most precious things to experience. Don’t refuse those hugs and positive gestures! If someone has wronged you and acknowledged that they have and seek your forgiveness, please do not turn them away. Depending on the circumstance, it may be more difficult to embrace forgiveness – especially while the hurt is fresh, but will yourself to forgive – not so much for them but for you – and work at forgiving them in your own timing. You can say to them, “what you’ve done is horrible, and at this time I cannot forgive you but I will work at getting to that point – in time.” As humans we have the capacity to hurt each other so immensely – unfortunately, and the effects can linger and stay with us for years – and sometimes forever. But we cannot allow the fear of being hurt by someone to shut us off from everyone; not if we want to enjoy a high quality of life. We must open our hearts, and trust that the universe will respond to our kindness with kindness, and love with love. Nurture those relationships that mean the most to you! The ones that embrace reciprocity and have proven to be solid over time.

10. Keep a Positive Mind and Attitude

Remaining in a sphere of positivity is really the greatest thing for our mind, body, and spirit. Positive thinking keeps us in high vibration and high vibration is necessary for the best work to be done in us, and through us. Positivity shines through, and pulls positive things, people, and circumstances to us. Negative thoughts distort our good energy, and attracts negative, ugly, destructive things to us. Try doing anything, for example going on an interview, while thinking negative thoughts and see what happens. Then try again while thinking positive thoughts and see what happens. Total difference! If you think all is well, you are the best, you will succeed, you will be well received, the universe will respond with that same high level of positivity. And not only that, but when you think it will be ok, you can do it, you got this, your whole attitude and behavior will emit and translate that to everyone in your presence.

11. Find and Remain in Your Happy Place

Our happy place is where all the magic happens! And we are all capable of finding that place in our lives. Your happy place is that mental, physical space where you feel your best; where your heart is at ease and your inside is shining through to your outside. You are at peace with yourself, your creator, and your fellow earth inhabitants. Happiness is universal, we all want it! However, what constitutes that happiness is very much individual. When we find our happy place, we are able to enjoy a higher quality of life as we will always be able to bounce back from all the darts life throws at us more easily than not having that solace we’ve created. Behavioral psychologists, Donald T. Campbell and Phillip Brickman, coined the term for this happy place, “Hedonic Treadmill,” or “Hedonic Adaptation” which refers to the natural tendencies for humans to revert back to a set point of happiness after major changes whether positive or negative in their lives. It is so essential to always be at a high frequency. We are huge believers in the Law of Attraction here at My Blooming Biz, and the Universe does respond in a “like with like” manner. So when you are happy, you are in high frequency operating at a higher vibration, and everything happy will find you.

12. Determine the Things or Space That Relaxes You – Early

Being here on this earth as a sojourner will not always be what we want it to be. Things will happen! And some of those things has the ability to shake us to our very core. When these things happen, we will need to find inner peace, and that is why it is super important to know ourselves and develop habits that caters to our internal solace. It may be reading certain genre of books, listening to certain genre of music, taking a warm bath, going to the Spa, cooking up a new recipe, laying on the beach, taking a long trip, volunteering, exercising or going for a stroll. Whatever excites you and gets you thoroughly involved is what you will need to turn to whenever you have faced difficult situations or just need a picker upper. So determine what that is now, so you can partake when needed and continue to enjoy a high quality of life.

13. Create Happy Moments With The People Who Means The Most To You

This should be the main priority of everyone of us! What’s our purpose for being here on this earth living if not to share meaningful experiences? If not to invite others in to our beautifully unique aura of existence and accept their invitations to theirs? Don’t be taking the important people in your life for granted! Do the best you can to not only tell them but also show them how much you love and appreciate them, and how much they mean to you. Take them out sometimes! And make memories with them! Great experiences and moments make our hearts glad and release those powerful endorphins that has the potential to add years to our lives. And you know what? The memories of those happy moments and experiences will always be there to cushion us, revitalize and reinvigorate us when we need them most.

14. Develop a Habit to Smile Even When Going Through

Yes, develop a habit of smiling regardless of what you are going through. Yes, you will cry, you’re human. You may also grieve and mourn, but try not to dwell there. Develop the habit to take incremental moments in the midst of what you are experiencing, to remember something happy – happy moments, pleasant experiences and just smile. Smile through your tears and escape to those happier times – even temporarily. This will have a tremendous effect on your heart, psyche, body, and spirit. The effects of smiling on stress have been well-documented. Smiling helps to send a strong impulse to the mind, which then alters our neurochemistry. Studies have shown that people who were told to hold a genuine smile on their faces had lower heart rates after stressful activities. Practice this and allow your smile to help you navigate the tough terrains and keep your mind, body, and spirit light.

15. Manage Your Time Wisely

One of the greatest masterminds to ever live, Stephen R. Covey, in his book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” laid out a chart he created called The Four Quadrants which represents the 4 areas that we usually spend time in. And according to Covey, to be highly effective with our time, we have to ensure we prioritize the quadrant we spend most of our time in. At MBB, we utilize Covey’s teaching in all we do here, because we know that time is our most precious commodity. Time wasted cannot be regained! Money wasted can be regained, and much more, but not time. And that is why we implore you to use your time to enrich your life and the lives of your loved ones. Decide who and what is important to you and be sure to channel your time and energy there. Don’t allow others to dictate where you invest your time, you decide based on what’s best for you. As our CEO Eugénie Nugent always say here at MBB, “Don’t allow anyone to mindlessly use your time! People will, if you let them. Instead, mindfully use your time to your benefit; to get you to your BIG goal.”

16. Set Goals & Ensure You Accomplish Them

Yes, set those goals and allow nothing and no-one to hinder you from accomplishing them. Set your money goals, your growth goals in short and long-term intervals and implement strategies to accomplish them. You may need to work on discipline and mindset shift in order to get to your goals but if your goals are important to you, you will do whatever it takes to reach them. One very important thing I want you to note, however, is that your goals must be SMART. Writing and implementing SMART goals will be the determining factor of whether those goals are realized or not.

17. Implement Strategies to Keep You Inspired

One of the best ways to add vitality to your life is through daily inspiration. What’s your inspiration? What inspires and motivates you to push towards your dreams? Know what that is, and implement strategies to keep you inspired. For example, deciding on how you want to live your life then creating a vision board to represent that lifestyle, and placing it in a conspicuous spot so you can see it everyday. We have created our Lifestyle Designing Workbook, which is a FREE 41 page workbook that is geared towards helping women figure out what they truly want, so they can get to mapping and executing their how to get it. And we also host vision board parties as part of our Design Your Dream Lifestyle events which are held twice each year in various cities. Another great way to ensure you remain inspired is to document your goals, checkmark each when accomplished, and celebrate those wins, those milestones. We all need inspiration! It’s a part of who we are, and if we are intentional about staying inspired, we will remain inspired.

18. Setup Systems to Continuously Increase & Manage Your Money

Unless you have inherited and are connected to an unlimited money source or by some stroke of luck find yourself with an unlimited money source, you need to be mindful of your money in and out flows. And the best way to do this is to create a budget based on the monies you are currently receiving, then track and effectively manage it. You want to keep your outflows less than your inflows, and you also want to create systems that allow money to flow in without you actively involved in every aspect – a passive income system. In making your budget, ensure you have a provision for saving included. Many people can tell you their income right off the bat. They know just how much money they make since it generally tends to be fixed. But, most people cannot tell you how much they have spent in a certain category of expense for the previous month. Close enough attention isn’t paid to money that’s going out, just money that’s coming in. This is a method for disaster! Committing serious financial suicide! Create and stick to a budget. This should allow you to save and invest your money over time. If you don’t stick to a budget, it’s much harder to get ahead and accomplish your income goals. Knowing just how much money you can or can’t spend every day will help you to stay on track. Tracking & auditing expenses should be something done on a daily basis.

Whether you use a notepad or a digital spreadsheet, it’s important to know every penny going out the door. Set aside a portion of your income (upwards of 20%) and let it increase so you can later use it for investment opportunities. Investment is a great way to earn huge ROI on your initial investment. Some investments are purchasing stocks and bonds, buying and flipping houses, and buying and renting out buildings. Our finances help us to access and enjoy a higher standard of living, and as our CEO here at MBB always says, “Having your finances in order is the highest form of self love, a love that cannot help but to command respect.” We wholeheartedly embrace this! You may want to automate monies from your checking to your savings account at a specific time each month to ensure monies are being tucked away and not showing up as available in your checking account 😊

All these 18 surefire things you can do to enjoy a high quality of life, are embodied in The Five Ally’s. And so working at peaking your five Ally’s as well as identifying and courting what works best for you in the eight key areas of your life, will ensure you enjoy a high quality of life.
