In January we kicked off a new MBB series to highlight transformational books for women called, Transformational Book Series – Our Picks. This month we’re excited to continue the series by sharing with you our next transformational book in the series – Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Think and Grow Rich is based on the principle that “There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge” and “Both poverty and riches are the offspring of thought, which means you can achieve whatever you want be it money, fame, power, contentment, personality, peace of mind, or happiness.” It also contains the ideas, definitions, and the clarifications that provide real answers to the questions of “how do I become rich?” “How do I make enough money to live my dreams?” which he term “the roadmap to riches”. If Stephen R. Covey’s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People which is the best personal development book ever written is part 1, then Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich is the best personal development book ever written part 2. Not only does it delve into all aspects of self development but it also touch on being successful with money. As long as you repeat his teaching until it becomes your reality, you will succeed at your money goal or whatever else you are pursuing.
You may not be looking to obtain great wealth or any exorbitant amount of money, but if you are looking to even garner ample amount of money to live your life the way you want to, then the information in this book will help you get on the right path to achieving your money goal. It will force you to exit your closed off comfort zone, and literally begin to pursue your dreams – whatever it may be.
Napoleon Hill talks a lot about faith, the law of attraction, and why it is important to make decisions and plans. According to Hill, it’s about believing! In order to reach whatever you seek you first have to believe and have faith in your abilities, in the plan that God has for you. YOU have to believe in YOU regardless of what others say or think about you, in order for any change to take place in your life – positively. That is the only way to get to your BIG dreams! So stay connected and locked in to your dreams and allow no one to sway you away. Believe that you can, ignore them, and stay focused on your goals.
We always recommend that when you read books – especially those written a long time ago – you should take the “times” they were written into consideration. For example, this book was written in the 1930’s and at that time this book would have been directed at white males. However, times have changed and this book has transcend its time and is now relevant to all people who are looking to achieve their money goals and improve their overall lives.
The most valuable lessons to be gathered from Think and Grow Rich are:
1) You cannot acquire great wealth without a concrete plan for attaining that wealth, a serious passion that compels you to act on your plan continuously, and great faith that your plan will allow you to succeed.
2) Many of the world’s greatest achievers were passionate to the point of obsession, and in order to emulate their success you must cultivate a desire until it becomes an obsession.
3) Material success does not come solely as a result of knowledge acquisition, but rather from one’s ability to organize and transform specialized knowledge such that it can be delivered to a wide audience in the form of a product or service.
4) One of the common attributes of highly successful people is the ability to reach decisions quickly and to change them slowly. (Most of us are the opposite.)
5) Persistence often makes the difference between success and failure. It is a state of mind that is essential to success and can be adhered to through effort and discipline.
Like many of us here at MBB, this book will help you to breakthrough barriers using its principles which has the potential to attract what we ponder on into our lives. It is filled with anecdotal evidence and can prove very effective when practiced! Read it all the way through and highlight important parts or the portions that speak to you, then read at least one highlighted passage periodically.

Get this book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, read it, implement the strategies in your life, and expect to be improved – wholistically. As entrepreneur, Inventor, and salesman extraordinaire Cactus Jack Barringer said about this book, “Buy it…you have a book. Read it…you have the blueprint. Do it…you have the world!”.
With love, gratitude, and empowered attitude,
Hey Team MBB, very timeless book and post. I particularly like #3 “Material success does not come solely as a result of knowledge acquisition, but rather from one’s ability to organize and transform specialized knowledge such that it can be delivered to a wide audience in the form of a product or service.” because I can relate. After graduating university with a lot of skills and knowledge, I like many of us, had to gain the actual practical experience of transforming those skills and knowledge into usable relevant formats so that it could be beneficial to others and in return benefitted me. Love what you are doing here! #MenSupportingWomen 💪
#MenSupportingWomen 😊 thanks John! Always our pleasure to have you support and interact with us here at MBB. Yes, we have to translate those skills and knowledge so they are usable and also able to reach their intended targets. This in itself is a skill that with practice anyone can master. Thanks for your input and stopping by!
Real valuable lessons! As someone once said, “the mind is a powerful thing to waste.” If we can think it, it can be.
BTW. Loving that quote from Cactus Jack Barringer “Buy it…you have a book. Read it…you have the blueprint. Do it…you have the world!”.
Indeed Gillian! Whatever the mind can conceive, we can achieve – if only we do the work and stay the course. Yes we can!
I bought that book eons ago and still haven’t read it. Sounds like a book I need to read pronto! Thanks for this insight and synopsis.
That’s a good book, indeed. I remember when I first read it, I had to take a break from reading to digest it. So full of necessary information and a potent source of personal growth hack.
If you ask me, I’ll say yes, get this book. This one is a “must have”.
